Raindrop Massage
The Raindrop Massage is a method of using massage techniques, reflexology, and essential oils to bring structural and electrical alignment, aid detoxification and provide a beneficial harmony & wellness between Mind, Body & Spirit.
The Raindrop Massage is based on The Raindrop Technique® developed by Dr. Gary Young. His theory was that many spinal misalignments are caused by pathogens that reside dormant along the backbone. This condition creates inflammation causing contortion and disfigurement along the spine. The application of highly antimicrobial essential oils reduces inflammation and kills the pathogens, thus providing symptom relief. Gary Young has researched aromatherapy and herbal medicine for over 20 years. He gives credit to the Native American Lakotas, the Hunza people of the Himalayan Mountains, and the people of Inner Mongolia for his inspiration. The premise behind Raindrop Therapy is that the use of specific antimicrobial oils applied in a particular sequence with various techniques will reduce the body’s inflammations and destroy any viral presence. Although the original theory behind this is to heal problems of the spine, modifications can be incorporated into the therapy to treat other conditions as well.
Eight essential oils are traditionally used in the application, although other oils may be added, based on the individual client:
Oregano & Thyme are highly anti-bacterial & anti-viral
Marjoram is anti-spasmodic
Basil is a muscle relaxant
Peppermint is a topical analgesic & helps to drive all the oils deeper into the skin
Wintergreen is for painful joints & bones
Cypress is for circulation
Aroma Siez is a blend to relieve stressed muscles
Valor is for spinal alignment & muscle problems
The Health Benefits of the Raindrop Massage:
1. Pain Relief: In a study published in the August 2000 issue of the Journal of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, 60 fibromyalgia patients were surveyed. Aromatherapy, heat and massage were rated most effective.
2. Reduction of Inflammation: Several studies have identified many essential oils as being powerful anti-inflammatory agents. Thyme, wintergreen, and peppermint are three anti-inflammatory oils used during a RainDrop session. For example, wintergreen essential oil contains a high content of natural methyl salicylate which is shown to inhibit inflammation.
3. Improvement of Immune System Function: Thyme and Oregano essential oils support a healthy immune system. The essential oils, being high in phenols, may cleanse cellular receptor sites and enhance cleansing of the body.
4. Release of Repressed Negative Emotions: Bessel A. Van Der Kolk, MD of Harvard Medical School stated that severe emotional stresses can produce subconscious neuroses which are essentially physioneurosis, stored in the amygdala. Inhalation of essential oils can help activate and release subconscious emotional stress. Essential oils effect the limbic system where emotions are stored in the "brain's emotional computer".
5. Balance and Re-align the Energy Centers of the Body – The combination of techniques brings electrical and structural alignment to the body. The essential oil blend of Valor helps the body align and is often referred to as "chiropractor in the bottle".
6. Reduce Stress and Minor Anxiety - Not only can the oils enhance positive emotions such as joy and happiness, but they can also help us release negative emotions that are subconsciously stored on a cellular level.
7. Aid the Body's Natural Response to Irritation and Injury – Thyme and Oregano support the immune, respiratory, nervous, and other body systems. They are strong antioxidants. Basil, Wintergreen, Marjoram, Cypress and Peppermint essential oils may reduce tension.
